Concerning Cardio – More Muscle, Strong Heart
The best form of exercise to promote a healthy heart is cardio right? Maybe not. Lifting weights could give steady-state training a run for its money in terms of protecting your ticker. The reason? Muscle mass. It has been researched and proven that heart disease patients with higher muscle mass and lower levels of body fat have a lower mortality risk than those with differing compositions (i.e., less muscle, more fat). Even as we get older, we should be more conscious of our cardiovascular health. Don’t let resistance training take a backseat to your exercise routine. Lifting should always live on.
