Looking to begin the new year by ditching a few pounds? Use this powerful cardio program to strip body fat in eight weeks with a specific plan to lose 5 pounds.

 

Taking off a 10 note will take a bit of additional dedication. Do cardio 5 days a week – three workouts use inclines to build intensity while the other two utilize metabolism-surging intervals – for the next eight weeks

 

 

 

The Program

 

Days 1, 3, and 5

35-minute incremental treadmill program.

  • Minutes 1 to 5 on a speed of 3.5 and 0 incline (warm up)
  • Minutes 6 to 10 on a speed of 3.7 and 2.5 incline
  • Minutes 11 to 15 on a speed of 3.9 and 5.0 incline
  • Minutes 16 to 25 on a speed of 3.9 and 7.5 incline
  • Minutes 26 to 30 on a speed of 3.7 and 10.5 incline
  • Minutes 31 to 35 on a speed of 3.5 and 0 incline

 

Days 2 and 4

35-minute steady state elliptical program (use an elliptical trainer that has moving handles). Begin by doing a five minute warm up followed by five interval cycles of one minute of work to four minutes of rest, then finish up with a four minute cool down.

  • Minutes 1 to 5 on a sped of 55-65 rpm (warm up)
  • Minute 6 on a speed of 80-90 rpm
  • Minutes 7 to 10 on a speed of 65-75 rpm
  • Minute 11 on a speed of 80-90 rpm
  • Minutes 12 to 15 on a speed of 65-75 rpm
  • Minute 16 on a speed of 80-90 rpm
  • Minutes 17 to 20 on a speed of 65-75 rpm
  • Minute 21 on a speed of 80-90 rpm
  • Minutes 22 t0 25 on a speed of 65-75 rpm
  • Minute 26 on a speed of 80-90 rpm
  • Minutes 27 to 30 on a speed of 65-75 rpm
  • Minutes 31 to 35 on a speed of 55-65 rpm
