The All-Purpose Summer Smoothie

Make this power shake for breakfast, post-workout, or whenever you need an energy boost. Made with summer’s freshest produce (berries and greens), it has the perfect three-to-one carb-to-protein ratio to speed muscle repair, and fiber from whole grains, veggies, and fruit to crub hunger and keep blood sugar stable. Throw the ingredients in a blender for two minutes.

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond or nonfat milk
  • 4 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ½ cup mango chunks
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • ½ raw beet, chopped
  • ¼ cup rolled oats, uncooked
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Small handful raw spinach or chard
  • Small handful of ice
