Beyond carrots: four other foods that will help keep your vision sharp.
- Salmon: People who regularly consume fish and shellfish rich in Omega-3’s are less likely to develop age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the deterioration of an area in the retina.
- Kale: Leafy greens are packed with lutein and zeaxanthin, two ingredients that may decrease the risk of developing AMD and cataracts (clouding of the lens).
- Oranges: They are full of vitamin C, an antioxidant necessary for proper function in the eyes. It also appears to delay the onset of AMD and cataracts.
- Black Eyes Peas: These and other legumes contain the essential mineral zinc, which may help protect your vision from the damaging effects of light exposure.
